As part of the requirements for the Maori Fisheries Act, Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated has set up the Kahungunu Asset Holding Co Ltd (KAHC) to receive and manage its Treaty Fisheries Settlement and future investments on behalf of Ngati Kahungunu. The Kahungunu Asset Holding Company consists of 5 directors, with 2 directors appointed from the board members of Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Inc and 3 independent directors.
