Ngati Kahungunu Sports Awards 2013

The Ngati Kahungunu Sports Awards Event is held annually to help celebrate the mana and well being of Ngati Kahungunu. The awards are in recognition of sports people that have achieved a high level in sport, culture and participation within their community. The awards ceremony will be held on Friday 18th October 2013 at the Hastings Sports Centre, Railway Road, Hastings.

Conditions of Entry :

  • All nominees accept their name may be submitted as a candidate for the National Maori Sport Awards;
  • Category winners are automatic nominees for the Ngati Kahungunu Maori Sportsperson of the Year Award -$1000 & trophy;
  • Category winners contact details may be passed on for media purposes;
  • Applicants must be of Kahungunu descent or resident Maori participating within the Kahungunu rohe during the period of eligibility (1st September 2012 to 11th September 2013);
  • All nominees are encouraged to register on the Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated database. If you would like to register please contact the iwi office on 06 876 2718 or 0800 524 864;
  • Ensure all evidence and information is provided with the application to support your nomination. This is an important part to accepting and processing nominations. If your form is incomplete it may be declined;
  • The judge’s decision is final.  No correspondence will be entered into.
  • Applications close Wednesday 11th September. No late applications will be received.  

Categories

Junior Maori Sportsman – $500 & trophy

  • Applicants must be 18 years or under at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

 

Junior Maori Sportswoman - $500 & trophy

  • Applicants must be 18 years or under at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

 

Maori Coach - $500 & trophy

  • Outstanding performance by a coach within the qualifying period (paid or unpaid)

 

Maori Administrator - $500 & trophy

  • Applicants must have been involved in an administration supporting role (paid or unpaid) within a community, club or association setting for eligibility of this section

 

Senior Maori Sportsman - $500 & trophy

  • Applicants must be 19 years and over at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

 

Senior Maori Sportswoman - $500 & trophy

  • Applicants must be 19 years and over at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

 

Active Kaumatua (55+) - $500 & trophy

  • Open to any individual who has excelled in one or more sports or recreational activity within the qualifying period.  This may be achieved in an individual role or group setting

 

Maori Official - $500 & trophy

  • Outstanding performance by a referee, umpire or judge within the qualifying time

 

Junior Sports Team of the Year - $500 & trophy

  • Team members must be 18 years or under at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

 

Senior Sports Team of the Year - $500 & trophy

  • Team members must be 19 years and over at the time of their performance for eligibility of this section

Judges

  • A panel of judges will be selected to independently judge each application in a fair manner.
  • The judge’s decision is final.  No correspondence will be entered into.

Tickets

  • Tickets for this event will go on sale on the 18th September 2013.

Category Winners

  • Category winners will be advertised through our iwi communication networks on the 18th September 2013.
