Kahungunu 2026 - Tinotangatiratanga

As Tane sought indepenence from Ranginui and Papatuanuku so we must demand our independence from the government. It is only through independence that Kahungunu will grow and prosper. Dependence will keep us locked into the destructive cycles and negative statistics prevalent today. Tinorangatiratanga begins with self, continues through the whanau, the hapuu and the iwi.

  • Controlling our own resources

  • Making our own decisions

  • Determining our own outcomes

  • Owning the consequences of our decisions

  • Tuwhakahihi ~ assertive, confident, standing tall and strong

  • Independent and contributing to our society

  • Government boundaries align to Iwi boundary
