Since
the inception of this Board in 1997, we have recognized that wananga
is a priority and that the basis of wananga is whakapapa,
reo, tikanga and kawa. We have also recognized that our resource
of Kaumatua and Kuia have largely been lost to us.
We
have acknowledged formally that Te Wananga Whare Tapere o Takitimu
is the Wananga and Arts and Culture arm of Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated
under The Runanga Arts and Culture Board (RACB) and as such we have
supported their convening of the various Kahungunu wide activities,
festivals and developments. The Runanga Arts and Culture Board (RACB)
have produced a Strategic Plan, for Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated
which has been adopted.
