The Ngāti Kahungunu organisation and iwi reaches far and wide with coverage that encompasses local Taiwhenua and National / Internationl groups.
Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated is governed by a board of representatives from each area as follows: one representative from the six districts wihtin the Kahungunu rohe, two representatives from the five taurahere areas, one kaumatua and a chairman. Board members are elected and can be nominated from their respective areas of representation except for the Kaumatua representative who can nominate themselves so long as they meet the criteria. The board members are elected into their positions and meet regularly to correlate iwi matters. To find out more about the election process click here.
