There is a great number of Ngati Kahungunu whanau who reside outside of the Kahungunu rohe (area).

Taurahere Runanga have been established for the purpose of Kahungunu representation in the main areas outside of the Kahungunu rohe.

Taurahere persons are delegated to represent the Taurahere Runanga on the Ngati Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated Board.
