As Tāne sought independence from Ranginui and Papatūānuku so we must demand our independence from the government. It is only through independence that Kahungunu will grow and prosper. The dependence will keep us locked into the destructive cycles and negative statistics prevalent today. Tino Rangatiratanga begins with self and continues through the whānau, the hapū, and the iwi.
