Whanau who live outside the Kahungunu area are able to to participate in Kahungunu activities through their Taura here representatives. There are current five Taura here groups thorughout the motu:

• Tāmaki-makau-rau (Auckland) - inactive

• Ngā Parirau o te Ika (New Plymouth across to Bay of Plenty) - active through Kahungunu ki Kirikiriroa board

• Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington) - active board

• Ōtautahi (Christchurch) - inactive but involved

• Murihiku (Invercargill) - inactive
