Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated – Hastings

Full Time | 40 Hours per Week
Monday – Friday | 8.00am – 4.30pm

Ngāti Kahungunu is the third largest iwi.  Geographically, the tribe has the second-longest coastline in the country from Paritū in the North to Turakirae in the South. Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated maintains an independent position to provide research, advice and advocate for the interests, rights, values, beliefs and practices of Ngāti Kahungunu alongside our whānau and hapū. Our mission is to enhance the mana and well-being of Ngāti Kahungunu. 

 

Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated is seeking an enthusiastic, organised, and people-focused Receptionist / Administrator to join our Smart Services team based at our tari in Hastings.

 

As the first point of contact for our iwi, whānau, stakeholders, and manuhiri, you will play a vital role in creating a welcoming and professional environment while providing essential administrative support across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Welcome and assist staff, whānau, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.

  • Manage reception enquiries by phone, email, and in person.

  • Maintain meeting room bookings and ensure hui spaces are prepared and presentable.

  • Assist with iwi registration updates, sponsorships, scholarships, and Pātaka administration.

  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail.

  • Support travel, accommodation, purchasing, and catering arrangements.

  • Monitor and maintain the organisation's vehicle fleet records, including Registration, WOFs, servicing, and RUC requirements.

  • Process merchandise sales and maintain accurate cash handling procedures.

  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming office environment.

  • Provide general administrative support to staff as directed by the Director of Smart Services.

 

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Is highly organised with strong time management abilities.

  • Can prioritise competing tasks and work independently.

  • Demonstrates initiative, reliability, and professionalism.

  • Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information appropriately.

  • Is confident using Microsoft Office and general office systems including modern online socials to support our future rangatahi .

  • Has a positive attitude and enjoys working with people from all walks of life.

  • Has an appreciation of te ao Māori and a commitment to supporting Ngāti Kahungunu values.

  • Can sing and play the guitar would be a bonus, but not necessary 😊
