Reports and Updates
Ngahiwi Tomoana has been the longest serving chairman for any iwi in Aotearoa. His chairmanship of the Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated Board started in 1996 and ended after 26 years when new Chairman Bayden Barber won the 2022 triennial election.
Ngahiwi Tomoana holds a great deal of historical knowledge and as an organisation, we strive to capture this knowledge to hold and carefully share as a taonga and record of modern Kahungunu, the ups, and downs, and turnarounds.
In 2022, following his release from his long-term position as chairman, Ngahiwi was mandated by the 'National Iwi Chairs Forum" as Lead for Te Aratini & Trade. Following the impressive Aotearoa presence at the 2021 World Expo in Dubai, Ngahiwi is now preparing for the 2025 World Expo being held in Osaka, Japan. We keep a record of his updates so everyone and anyone can view progress reports.
